Revitalizing My Skills & Chasing My Dreams

With being a public relations major, I knew I had to take CCA, I was not sure what it may entail, but I am so happy with the way it turned out. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had this quarter. This quarter I had the chance to work with Sean Mcgee for The Observer.

I am delighted with our accomplishments. This quarter didn’t come without its challenges,

however. A few years back, I decided to take a break from school for a few different reasons. Initially, I was taking one year off, but then as time progressed my plans of returning dwindled. I had been working in the hotel industry for a few years and was content with everything. Then I found the motivation to return.

After being gone for a few years, I was a little rusty in some areas. The biggest area for improvement was my Adobe skills. I had taken a class that taught me the basics, but that was back in 2017. I certainly had my work cut out for me. After watching a lot of online tutorials, I was left with questions. I contacted the Learning Commons to see if someone could help me with Adobe. They referred me to Amy Walker. Amy is my Adobe angel; they were able to answer all my questions and show me tons of tips and tricks. Their help was crucial for my success and the improvement of my Adobe skills.

I am incredibly proud of what I have been able to create. I am a small-town boy with big-city dreams, and with graduation on the horizon, I stand on the cusp of seizing the world. My dream is to become a publicist for someone in reality TV, preferably one of the Real Housewives, or in the fashion industry. Ever since I was a child, I have had an affinity for

reality TV and a passion for fashion.

I am inspired by trailblazers such as Kelly Cutrone whose tenacity and power in both the PR and fashion industry has left a mark on my aspirations. I can remember watching her on TV as a child, especially her reality show that gave us a glimpse into her life as she ran her own company and produced New York Fashion Week while being a single mother.

As I prepare to return to CCA for my final quarter, I am excited for the new

opportunities that are to come. The road thus far has been extremely

transformative, and I feel like the best is yet to come.
